A study to measure the enabling environment provided by the governance system at the district level

This is a study to measure the reach of governance to the constituents of the economy - households and firms. This measures the enabling environemnt provided by the governance system for the economy. There have been other studies to measure the Economic Governance Index (EGI), particularly in countries including Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia. This is a first of its kind initiative in India. This is unique in the sense that:

1. It seeks to measure governance at the level of the district (other studies in India have focused more at the state level)

2. It brings in to the picture the environment as felt by the households and firms - other studies have focused on the firms (private enterprises) alone to measure economic governance.
