Impact planning and assessment exercises for social sector clients
Planning for and assessing the impact that development organizations have on their goals is a complex topic, dominated recently by debate over experimental vs. non-experimental approaches. Impact can be generally defined as the difference between what happens as a result of an organization's behavior and what would have happened if the organization had not acted at all. This initiative explores ways to help social sector clients:
1) understand the purpose of undergoing impact assessment
2) develop a theory on impact creation, and
3) go through the process of assessing the theory.
The current focus of the initiative is on developing both an impact assessment strategy for the ICICI Foundation, and insights for Indian development organizations in general.
Keywords: impact assessment, impact evaluation, results-based measurement, RCTs, organizational development
